Behind the E.GO project was originally the Aachen Professor Günther Schuh, who was also one of the co-founders of the electric transporter manufacturer StreetScooter. E.GO Mobile was created as an outdoor by the Rheinisch-Westfälisches Technical University (RWTH) Aachen. After the start-up was still in bankruptcy proceedings in the summer of 2020, it was transferred to the Next.E.GO Mobile SE with the help of a new investor.
